Adrift 2 back

Adrift 1 was found in a log dam that formed in a heavy rainstorm. There is a massive pecan tree blocking logs from flowing downstream. Over time, more and more logs piled up. The pecan tree is wide enough to easily walk on, and the trapped logs create a stable surface. I always climb around on this dam every time I walk along the creek because new logs appear after every rain. I can spend anywhere from an hour to half a day sorting through all the driftwood. Not every log is intriguing enough for me to take, however. I usually throw away 20 to 30 pieces before I find one I want to keep. There is something almost meditative about this process. I enjoy listening to the birds and creek flowing through the dam. I can spend hours there and not even realize that time has gone by.
